Lead Based Paint

Lead has mostly been a concern in buildings that were built prior to 1978, but due to the death of a child in 2006 from swallowing a metal charm on their shoes, lead has moved back into a place of prominence.  Stricter regulations are being developed annually as more and more children's products are being found with lead concentrations above the regulated limits.  Due to these stricter regulations many products are being recalled due to lead.  Vieau Associates personnel are Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) certified lead inspectors and risk assessors.  With these certifications we are able to quickly and cost effectively provide the following services.

  • Housing and Urban Development (HUD) lead risk assessments and inspections,
  • Collection of samples for lead in paint, soil, water, air and dust,
  • Collection of drinking water samples for lead content,
  • Preparation of lead abatement specifications,
  • Lead abatement contract administration,
  • Lead abatement contractor oversight,
  • Lead abatement monitoring and clearance sampling,
  • Preparation of Lead Safe Work Practices Programs,
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance and 
  • Lead Safe Work Practices training.
